On a rainy mid-morning of Wednesday 9^th September 2020, His Worship the Mayor, Lumbuye Gerald Nsubuga officially opened the Busingiri - Nyanama Taxi Park in Bunamwaya Division, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality.

The Deputy Town Clerk, Mr. Henry Ssemakula led the technical team from the municipal council along with Mr. George Ssekalega (Senior Law Enforcement Officer) and Ms. Nassuuna Doreen (Commercial Officer). In his remarks, Mr. Ssemakula pledged to work with taxi operators for their betterment and that of the municipality at large.

Bunamwaya DPC, Mr. Banya cautioned the taxi drivers and conductors “to be disciplined”—and also promised to liaise with the traffic police department to get a traffic officer within the area.  

Meanwhile, municipality deputy mayor, Mr. Kaweere Vicent and other political leaders from within the area also attended the event, in which they met with taxi drivers and conductors’ representatives that operate within Bunamwaya Division.

"Since the start of this taxi park has been your (the drivers) initiative, I have pardoned you four months without paying taxes to enable you set yourselves," His Worship, the Mayor noted.
